30 Day Blog Challenge – Day 2 getting to know Louise

Apparently I need to write a blog, which sounds very unsavoury if you ask me! But I need something to write about, so I thought I’d share how I got to running the shop alongside Tracy.

I have always loved crystals, even my mum was fascinated by crystals and managed to save her pennies to buy a few pieces she really liked, they’ve never been cheap.

But I digress. I was told when I was at school to find a good job that was secure and earns you lots of money, like computer programming or working in a bank. So I tried the computer programming and hated it. I could never understand what they wanted me to do, it was far beyond the BBC basic I used to know and love. But I did stick with typewriting and loved using my BBC computer, especially for the games. After my A-levels I left school and began working life as a secretary, enjoying organising my boss’s life and using the computer, and hating taking notes using shorthand. After all, who on earth can read all those weird ticks and scratches once they’re on paper?

After a few years of being a secretary in different companies, being made redundant, then temping for a while, I finally ended up in a graphics department in an investment bank. At last I had managed to secure the dream job in my mum’s eyes! And actually, I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed it so much, that only after 22 years did I finally decide that I could give my notice in and still be alive afterwards.

And I am. I’m alive. And I’m loving it. I have an amazing job now, looking after the shop, running up and down the country to find lovely crystals to sell (and sometimes keep), meeting all of our customers and trying to help people in any way I can.

But it’s only through going through a really rough few years at the end of my last job, that I have managed to be in this great place. If I hadn’t lost my dad, moved back to Leigh to look after my mum, found Tracy to be my best friend who helped me through both the loss of dad, and then mum, I wouldn’t be here now. I wouldn’t be in the position to be able to run the shop without worrying about a wage for a couple of years. I wouldn’t be able to do something that I love. I would never have had the courage to give up the job that, in the end, I hated.

They say that life’s a journey, full of lessons that we will grow from, and syncronisities that move us in the direction we are meant to go in. We just need to be grateful for our challenges and know that they are doing us good, they are part of the divine purpose in our lives. I am exceedingly grateful for my life right now. I am in the most amazing position doing an amazing job with an amazing person in my life.

Thank you Universe.
