Activating and Working with your Crystal Skull
There is no single or “correct” way to work with a crystal skull. For many people, the connection develops simply through spending time with their skull, while others enjoy creating a more intentional ritual or practice.
The following is one way you might choose to begin. Take from it whatever feels meaningful to you and leave anything that doesn't.
A simple crystal skull connection practice
- Find somewhere quiet where you won't be disturbed. Take a few moments to ground yourself, perhaps imagining your connection with the Earth beneath you.
- Hold your crystal skull comfortably in your hands or place it in front of you.
- Bring your attention to your heart or Soul centre and allow yourself to become still.
- You may wish to set an intention for your time together. This could be meditation, reflection, healing, personal exploration or simply getting to know your skull.
- Some crystal skull traditions include asking for the skull to be cleared of previous energies or programming and setting an intention that your work together is for the highest good.
- If concepts such as crystal skull consciousness, ancient keepers, sacred sites or other spiritual connections form part of your beliefs, you may choose to include these within your own practice.
- Sit quietly with your skull for a while and notice what arises - thoughts, feelings, images, memories or perhaps nothing at all.
- Some people feel that their skull has a name. If one comes naturally to mind, you may wish to use it. If it doesn't, there is absolutely no need to find one.
Your experience does not need to match anyone else's. Sometimes the most meaningful practice is simply sitting quietly with a beautiful piece of the Earth.

Ways to work with your Crystal Skull
Working with crystal skulls can be deeply personal, so experiment and discover what feels right for you.
You might:
- Choose one skull and spend a couple of weeks getting to know it rather than working with several at once.
- Spend five or ten minutes in quiet meditation with your skull.
- Take it outside and spend time with it in nature.
- Keep a journal of thoughts, feelings, dreams or experiences that arise while working with it.
- Use it as a focus for meditation, contemplation or automatic writing.
- Include it in a crystal grid or other personal spiritual practice.
- Explore dream work or some of the more esoteric traditions associated with crystal skulls, if these resonate with you.
- Or simply keep your skull somewhere you can enjoy it. Working with a crystal skull doesn't have to involve a spiritual practice at all.
If you choose to work with your skull meditatively or spiritually, take a little time afterwards to ground yourself and return your attention to your surroundings.
Most importantly, there is nothing you are supposed to experience. Your relationship with a crystal skull is your own.
Keep a note of all your experiences in a notepad.
