A collection of useful links and resources from The Crystal Tree.

Over the years, we have discovered many fascinating books, websites, museums, organisations and other resources that have helped us learn more about crystals, minerals, geology and the natural world.

This page brings together some of those resources, alongside a few personal recommendations that have been part of our own journey.

We will continue adding to this page as we discover new places to learn, explore and satisfy our curiosity.

Geology & Mineral Resources

Mindat.org
An extraordinary database for minerals, their properties, localities and photographs. This is one of the resources we use when researching minerals and checking geological information.

British Geological Survey
A wonderful resource for exploring the geology of Britain, from rocks and minerals to geological maps and the fascinating landscape beneath our feet.

Museums & Places to Explore

Natural History Museum – Minerals Gallery
One of our favourite places to appreciate the extraordinary diversity of the mineral world. The historic Minerals Gallery in London is filled with crystals, minerals, gems and meteorites, offering a wonderful opportunity to see exceptional specimens and discover more about how they formed.

Blue John Cavern – Castleton, Derbyshire
We visited the Blue John Cavern ourselves and had the opportunity to see this remarkable mineral in the place where it occurs. The cavern offers a fascinating insight into the geology, history and traditional mining of Blue John, Britain's distinctive banded variety of fluorite.

Personal Recommendations

Paulinne Delcour-Min - Tracy particularly enjoyed Paulinne Delcour-Min's trilogy of books, especially Divine Fire. Although it is the third book in the trilogy, it can also be read in its own right. A personal recommendation from an earlier part of Tracy's journey that remains here because it genuinely meant something to her. You can buy and read on your kindle here, or a paperback version can be bought at The Crystal Tree.

George Kavassilas - Our Universal Journey. George Kavassilas has played an important part in Tracy's personal journey and continues to be someone whose work she values. His ideas encouraged her to question, explore and look at life from different perspectives. His work won't resonate with everyone, but for those who are curious, Tracy is very happy to recommend exploring it for yourself.

Moonrise Crystals - The Crystal Tree no longer writes metaphysical descriptions for crystals, as our own focus has evolved towards geology, mineralogy and the stories of the natural world. We know, however, that many people still enjoy exploring the traditional metaphysical meanings associated with crystals. Moonrise Crystals is a useful resource for anyone who would like to continue exploring that perspective.
