Tourmaline Protection Grid

The Tourmaline for protection Medicine Wheel crystal grid is traditionally associated with themes of grounding, boundaries, and protection, making it a popular choice for personal spaces, altars, or contemplative practice.

This particular grid design was taught to us by Philip Permutt during his Crystal Healing Level One training. Further detail on this layout and its traditional symbolism can be found in his book Crystal Grids, which explores how geometry, intention, and crystal placement work together in grid-based practices.

When I taught my crystal workshops, I would give each participant the stones needed to create their own grid. It has remained a favourite, so I decided to make the complete set available in the shop.

How to create your Tourmaline Medicine Wheel.

1) Select one tourmaline crystal to represent you or what it is you want to protect. This is the focus stone. Place it in the centre of your grid. Select 8 others to be part of the crystal grid so you have a total of 9 tourmaline crystals.

2) First, set a stone to the North, which represents the gods or things out of your control.

3) Next, place a stone to the West, representing the physical world.

4) Then place a stone in the South, connecting everything that is nurturing.

5) Before you place the crystal in the East, fill in the gaps in the wheel (NE,NW,SW,SE), so that the last crystal you place is the ninth crystal in the east, which is the gateway to the spiritual worlds. You are closing the circle, completing the grid and empowering the situation, place or person you want to protect.
